Balkan Leg 4 – Paklenica National Park and Krčić Waterfall

Tuesday, June 12, 2018. Start at 10:10 am.

After having a nice breakfast in the hotel in Karlobag, we start today’s track of 303 km.

We just continue our ride south along the coast line, right thing to get into the flow, following this fantastic road.

Down at Starigrad we turn left (east) to visit the canyon of the National Park Paklenica.

We follow the small road up to the entry of the canyon…

and have a walk up the canyon.

Many movies took this place for casting, e.g. the German western movie `Winnetou’ was partly taken at this beautiful place.

It’s quite a touristic place and many climbers enjoy climbing up the walls.

Well, we enjoy just walking around a little in the canyon and return to our motorcycle to continue our ride.

Here are some more information about Paklenica National Park: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paklenica

We leave the coast line and ride up the hills. Very wild country, very few people, no traffic: that’s fun to ride.

Near by Knin we stop for a visit of the Krčić waterfall.

The cold fountain is really refreshing.

From this point the river is called Krka.

We continue our ride and return down to the sea to visit the historical town of Split.

Split was already settled by the Romans and has a very old historical center. More information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split,_Croatia

After having a walk thru the historical center of split, we follow the coast line south to look for a room for the night. Finally we find this small bay with a nice little flat for the night. A short swim in the sea is a most welcome refreshment after a long day riding in the sun.
